Amy Hutcheson Asche

Tattoo Artist, Photographer & Graphic Artist
Founder & Owner of Ash & Ink Tattoo | Loveland, Colorado

Art takes many forms. For Amy Asche, tattooing, photography, and graphic design are connected ways of exploring identity, telling stories, and bringing ideas to life. As the founder and owner of Ash & Ink Tattoo in Loveland, Colorado, Amy brings a multidisciplinary creative perspective to her work, with an emphasis on original artistry, individual expression, and personalized service.

Whether she is developing a custom tattoo, working behind the camera, or creating a graphic composition, Amy approaches each project as an opportunity to translate a vision into something meaningful. Her work brings together the visual awareness of a photographer, the compositional thinking of a designer, and the hands-on creativity of a tattoo artist.

My Tattoo Journey

Amy’s tattoo journey began with a desire to expand her artistic practice into a medium that is both deeply personal and enduring. She pursued her tattoo education through an apprenticeship at Freakys Tattoo and Piercing on Colfax in Denver, receiving mentorship from The Enigma Live and Bobby Black.

That experience provided an important foundation for her development as a tattoo artist. Learning in an established studio offered opportunities to refine her technique, explore the relationship between design and placement, and develop her approach to working with clients. It also introduced her more deeply to the culture of tattooing—a community built around artistic expression, shared knowledge, and continual growth.

Amy’s journey has also included participation in tattoo conventions, including the Colorado Tattoo Convention, where she appeared alongside fellow artists and mentors. These experiences have offered opportunities to share her work, connect with the wider tattoo community, and draw inspiration from artists with different perspectives and approaches.

For Amy, artistic development is an ongoing process. Each project offers another opportunity to learn, refine her skills, and explore the possibilities of the medium.

From Asche Tattoo to Ash & Ink

Opening her own studio marked an important milestone in Amy’s creative career. Originally established as Asche Tattoo, the business grew from her desire to create a space where original art and individualized attention could take center stage.

The transition to Ash & Ink Tattoo carries that vision forward. With a new name, a new Loveland location, and a growing creative team, the studio represents the next chapter of Amy’s work as both an artist and a business owner.

Located at 1340 Washington Avenue, Unit B, Ash & Ink brings together tattooing, piercing, and local creativity in a welcoming setting. Amy is joined by tattoo artist Shauna and piercer Kayliegh, expanding the studio’s offerings while maintaining its focus on personal expression and attentive service.

The studio also features original art, candles, and apothecary products from local artisans. For Amy, making room for other creators is a natural extension of building a business rooted in the arts. Ash & Ink is a place to explore ideas, discover local work, and connect with the creative community.

A Multidisciplinary Creative Perspective

Amy’s background in photography and graphic art and design informs the way she approaches tattooing. Each discipline offers a different way of seeing: photography explores light, perspective, and detail; graphic design considers composition, balance, and visual communication; tattooing brings those considerations into a personal, physical medium.

Together, these interests shape an approach that considers both the overall impression of a design and the details that give it character. Subject matter, scale, placement, color, and complexity all contribute to how an idea develops into a finished tattoo.

Rather than viewing these creative practices as separate pursuits, Amy sees them as complementary parts of her artistic identity. Across mediums, her focus remains on creating work that communicates clearly and reflects the person or purpose behind it.

Your Ideas, Thoughtfully Developed

A tattoo can celebrate a milestone, honor a memory, express an interest, or simply bring a favorite piece of imagery into everyday life. Whatever the inspiration, Amy values the conversation that begins the process.

Her approach centers on understanding what a client hopes to create and considering how that idea can translate into a tattoo. Design, size, placement, detail, and color are all part of that discussion. Whether you arrive with a developed concept or an initial spark of inspiration, a consultation provides space to explore the possibilities and establish a direction.

Amy welcomes inquiries from first-time tattoo clients as well as collectors planning their next addition. Her goal is to offer personalized attention throughout the creative process while helping clients understand the considerations involved in their project.

Building an Artistic Community

As an independent artist and studio owner, Amy is building more than a portfolio. She is creating a space where clients, artists, and local makers can connect through a shared appreciation for creative expression.

Ash & Ink reflects that commitment through its growing team, support for local artisans, and emphasis on individualized service. The studio’s new chapter continues the values that inspired its beginnings: original work, meaningful collaboration, and room for artistic growth.

Whether you are visiting for a tattoo consultation, exploring the gift shop, or discovering Amy’s photography and design work, you are invited to be part of that creative community.
